MEMENTO MORI

installation at Out of the Closet, July 2017

Memento Mori is an exploration of the variety of human existence through personal objects. Each drawer within the cabinet holds a life within it– a portrait, a piece of their clothing, notes they kept for themselves, their held-dear objects. The viewer is encouraged to touch and explore each drawer, hold the objects and reflect upon the lives that once held them dear, but eventually left them behind. Finally, the bottom drawer of the cabinet holds journals in which the viewer may write about their own life experiences, and the objects (and people) they regret having to leave behind.
